Response to plagiarism

I was taught all through high school and even middle school not to plagiarize. The libraiains spent days learning drilling into our heads what is was, and how to prevent ourselves from doing so. Also they told us the consequences of what would happen to us if we did. These articles were pretty much just a review of everything I have learned already. My high school made it clear to us, we would fail and get in further trouble if we were caught plagiarizing. Therefore, I make sure I am not caught copying and pasting things, and if I do I use quote makes and say who said it. Then I analyze what the person said after that. I think most people unintentionally plagiarize because they were not educated enough on what it is considered to plagiarize; just like the Gabriel article said. I think the people who do copy and paste things are just the lazy ones, who waited last minute to do their own work. The only plagiarism I never really heard talked about before was Mosaic plagiarism. To make sure I do not plagiarize I copy the sources I got my information from immediately after copying done the information. I also try to get articles actually in print, because it is hard enough for me to read things online and stay focused, so I would not be able to copy and paste it from an online article to a word document.

Topic

When choosing my topic I had a hard time choosing between two topics. I wanted to do either market research or sports marketing. I think I am going to choose sports marketing and then look at the market research they do for it, or just how market research helps product promotion. Questions I would like to find during my during would be what makes people want things, or want to go to a sporting event. What keeps peoples attention and what keeps them entertained while at sporting events. Also what people look for in the people who play sports. Since I was a junior in high school I knew I wanted to do some kind of marketing, then my senior year I took a sports and entertainment marketing class. We learned about a lot of different things. My true interest is to do market research for from kind of sporting league. So far I have found what you have to keep in mind when it comes to doing research. There are ethical standards and laws that have to be followed when conducting research. I find searching for what drives people to want certain things interesting. I also read about how surveys are also good for when attempting to promote a product. I am excited to researchmore about the topic I have chosen.

Commentary on Matt Ritchel article

I can relate to this article a lot. First off I think it is ridiculous a second grader has a laptop and an iPod touch. Also the article said how when his daughter is on the laptop and you call her name she won't answer. That is exactly like my brother, I try to get his attention when he is texting or on his laptop and he won't answer. I have to keep repeating myself until he hears me. I tried to read the article online but I couldn't concentrate on it, so I read the one that is in print. When I am on the computer I do multi-task. I find myself jumping from one thing to another and not completing one task before I begin another.
